John: the 460 has a 221 CID 6 cyl. engine and assuming it's gasoline burner turned 47 max belt HP at Nebraska. The tractor is of around mid-late to very late 1950's. It weighs roughly 5800#. I believe the 460 was Farmall's first 6 cylinder ag tractor. My dad has a 1959 model and it's a sweet running piece. In decent ground it will handle 4 bottom pull-type plow. Dad runs his with a set of 3 bottom 16" fast hitch plows and it sails with them. As a kid there were several 460s in the immediate area where we lived so I was under the impression that 460s were common. Dad says they really weren't as Farmall did not produce these in the numbers that I thought.

The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
