Belarus....HELP!!!

My mother-in-law has a Belarus 250 and it does not currently run. It is a diesal (I think) and all of my experience is working on gas burners. OK...to stay in her good graces (which helps to keep my life simple), I have agreed to fix it for her. It may be as simple as just needing new batteries or as complex as who knows. Where can I get information about this beast??? Where are shop manuals available? Any other help would be great. Please help keep me in the good graces of the family...regards...BB
