What many people don't currently realize is that employer provided healthcare is a relatively new situation. In World War II there were wage and price controls on everything and labor was in extremely short supply. In order to attract labor without raising wages employers chose to do an "end run" around the wage controls by providing differing benefits, one of them being health insurance. Like all war measures, it was called "temporary" at the time but became permanent. Until that time you were expected to take care of your own health out of your own pocket. When the receiver of health care no longer was the payer for that health care, prices for health care skyrocketed and will as long as this is in place. What the government wants to do is to throw gas on the fire, not water. An old axiom is "expenses will automatically rise to a guaranteed level of income" is in play here. Healthcare costs will INCREASE, not decrease if the government has it's way. Mike
