your ym240 is still a fully supported machine via yanmar. It's a domestic model as are most of the 3-digit models. my 1700 on the other hand is a grey market import, and for the most part.. unsupported.
Unless there was some huge change.. your machine is a common sump deal wanting utf fluid.. not gear oil. I used to have 240 manuals as they were 'close' to my 1700.. but I ended up giving them to a fellow that had a 195 ( manual covered the 240 and 195 ).. he needed them more than I did.
any yanmar dealer can still order tons of parts for your domestic machine.
15w40 c rated is a good generic diesel oil.. etc..
