There's lots of reasons a sickle mower will slip. When the knife is on the ground is everything perfectly flat? The guards cannot be tilted so as to dig in. Heavy crop needs to be dry, if its really wet down under it is harder to cut. You may need to slow down your ground speed and keep your RPM's higher to get a good cut..drop down a gear. The knife needs attention, is each section sharp? The knife may have to be removed ans sharpened. A 4" angle grinder works like a charm to sharpen a knife. The leger plates in the guards need to be in decent shape as well..if the sharp serations are worn down you need to replace them. If the knife is sharp and the leger plates are good it should cut well. As for a belt slipping, the belt will have an adjustment on it to tighten it good and taut(tight) That should end belt slip Dry Hay Cutting bar level belt tight knife sharp good leger plates lube moving parts That ought to get you going!
