get some oven cleaner at your freindly dollar store for a 1.00-1.50 a can. spray it on and let it work for a few minutes then pressure wash it, re-apply as needed, a putty knife may have to be used on really thick stuff. when you get done with oven cleaner your B will be butt ugly but it works and the primer will stick well. John Deere primer is reall good primer also. I did my B this way and I have recieved a lot of good compliments on its restoration.
