Farmall Cub Relay Assembly/Generator/Light Switch Connections

Need help. Recently bought a 1949 Cub. It is a 6 volt (pos. gnd.) system. Noticed that charge indicator did not indicate charging. Removed hood/gas tank & found a Delco-Remy relay assem. w/three terminals designated as BAT, GEN, & F mounted atop the generator. I believe that the relay assem. functions as a voltage regulator, correct me if I am wrong. Previous owner had the leads from the generator armature & field connected together on the relay assem. "F" terminal. I rewired the generator connections/relay assem. as follows:
Generator Terminal to Relay Assem. Terminal
"F" "F"
"A" "GEN"
Charge indicator "BAT"
Light switch has four positions designated L, H, D, & B. There is another conductor exiting the cable harness @ in the gen./relay assem. area. This lead is connected @ the other end to the light switch & a wire wound resistor. Where do I connect this lead @ the gen./relay assem.? Correct me if I am in error, but I believe the the generator may be NG due to the manner in which it was previously connected.
