I have had a similar problem with those pesky vermin. I wait until the engine is cool and I place a bowl of amonnia under the hood. Now more squirels. Kind of a pain to have to keep doing but it is primarily in the fall when I have to do it. I have also read that squirles are driven off by stobe lights but I haven"t had time to wire one up under the hood yet. Was thinking about wiring it up and using an external extension cord so not to run battery down..will let you know if it works when I get around to it.
