ive seen rats chew through concrete the story is to spread hydrated lime around yure property to keep snakes and mice out snkes wont cross it because it throws them into a preature shed i dont know why mice wont cross it but hydrated lime will dry out your skin so this might be why if you are hust trying to keep mic away put some mothballs out thats what we do for our camper oer the winter months e just spread mothballs under it never have had mice in it hope this helps
