The others all have good points about the engine burning the oil -- it shouldn't! But it could also be leaking it from the seals, filter or the oil pressure sender line. If the seller cleaned it up good it might not show on quick inspection. Tell him you want to watch the tractor run for about an hour. Park it in one place over clean ground and watch for leaks! John
