Mike, we had a 86 Maxima that had a similiar problem. It had a little short rubber gas line that went over the exhaust manifold that was cracked. We only noticed this on very cold(not cold to you) days, like when the temp. was around 12 or 15 deg. F. I think rubber expands with cold and contracts with heat. We finally figured out the problem. Replacing the hose was very difficult because of the awful position it was in. I think I finally had a real mechanic do it.
