I took the inspection plate off my MH30
just the other day. I have spots of rust too.
I was suprised to see the primer that is used
on the inside housing was good has new after
50 years. The rust is usually no larger than 1/8 in in spots.
I would be more concerned with it being on
the bearings and races. In my case their in good condition.
