Blew a big 30 or 36 inch pipe about 15 years ago on Britain highway Lenawee County.Tripped the shutoff valve shut at Crocket highway about 15 miles away.I was about 10 miles away and could hear a rumbling sound plain as day.Light snow on the ground was gone for 1/4 mile away,just steam rising.Rural area melted the vinyl siding on a house a 1/4 mile away. Investigation determined backhoe operator dented pipe and it wore through there.They found 2 more he had dented. In the 1970's we farmed a farm with a big pipeline through it.Every so many years they pressure test them with water well exceeding operating pressure.Well she blew out on our farm and knocked down 6 foot tall corn for several hundred yards from the pipeline to the ditch.Mark
