ScottyHOMEy is correct. This was a TRANSCO natural gas line that ruptured due to corrosion in a pipe over 30 years old, then power lines may have sparked the explosion. Happened about 4 miles south of my home around 8AM on a Sunday morning and we could see the fireball rising to about 1200 ft. The 800 PSI gas line was shut down almost immediately but residual gas in lines burned for about an hour or so. Two houses within 100 yds. of rupture burned to the ground and several others had heat and explosion debris damage. No one was seriously injured and definitely no digging involved. Photos have made the rounds with lots of false information.
