At least part of one of the big Canadian lines for PGE goes through the outskirts of my home town, about a 1/2 mi from my parents home. Long story, but a failure of an ex-boss of mine was building a log home up there, hired a contractor to "do some work." It remains to this day, clouded in details, but the contractor uh, scratched? the pipe with a hoe. I knew one of the guys who worked with PGE and asked, "how would you repair that?" at that time thinking BIG pipe, LOTS of gas.
He floored me, says, "well depends on the damage. They MIGHT drop the pressure in the line which will ALLOW IT TO SHRINK!!!!! put a collar around it and then boost the pressure."
I asked him just how damn much pressure is IN there, anyhow?
