Seems like around here they wanted $20 to do a standard size lot 75' x 150'. That includes the kid who uses Dad's mower cause he wants to get rich quick. That was a few years ago, they may have went up to $25 or better.
Takes me about an hour to mow that lot by hand. A lot of dodging bushes, trees, etc. 10 minutes extra time to edge. Just use a mulcher blade and let it lay.
Must be a thousand of those mower guys running around with their new trailers to haul their new John Deeres, zero turn radius, push mowers, and the collection of trimmers and edgers hanging on a rack. They edge and haul off the grass.
There is a lot of leg work doing the job so I wouldn't worry about the leg work going door to door to get the job.
The day I can't walk behind a mower for an hour when I need the exercise will probably be the day I need to check it in.
