This is on a trencher, its a VG4D V4 wisconsin. It ran fine and I put the trencher back on the machine and went to try it. I got it at auction in pieces so I put it back together.
When the trencher was digging the engine started to squeal. I got it apart and found #4, the one with the discolored valve had a tore up connecting rod bearing and the cylinder is scored and the piston if tore up. It always had oil pressure. #2, the one next to #4 had a little wear on the clyinder and bearing. 1 and 3 on the other side of the engine are in real good shape. Any ideas what caused this?
