Not familiar with Continental engines - is it a diesel?
Wet-stacking or slobbering on a diesel is quite common - all of ours will do it if idled too long in cool weather, some will even do it in the summer heat if idled too long.
If it is a gas, you may have oil control rings stuck from sitting for an extended period.
Either way - work the snot out of it for a couple hours. If it clears up, great. If it doesn't clear up, you have other troubles.
Never heard an engine bearing give an intermittent squeal - just a loud squeal followed by a clunk and loss of forward motion (or the PTO-powered implement stopping!).
