When I worked in the parts department of a certain auto dealer, we got a repair order on a sold used car, signed by the sales manager, with the instructions FIX OIL LEAK IN EXHAUST. We endd up putting a rebuilt engine in that one, and the dealer lost his azz on that car.
So if you've got oil coming out the exhaust while/after the engine is running, you're in for a ring job at the very least. Pull and inspect the spark plugs, and you'll probably see the signs of oil fouling...or the beginning of it. On the other hand, if, as you stated, the engine hasn't run for a year, and you're seeing oil on the exhaust, it may be leaking from somewhere.
