Wire the #2 wire on the new alt to the bat terminal on the alt rear. The #1 terminal on the new alt is wired to the #4 socket on the 0ld regulator plug if the machine has an alternator light. If the machine has an amp guage the #1 alternator wire needs to connect to the regulator plug terminal that is live only when the ignition switch is on( likley #3or4 , check with a test light.) If this terminal which is hot only when the ign is on is wired to the switch ACC terminal it will work OK, but if this wire is connected to the IGN side of the switch you may need to add a diode or resistor to the wire that goes to the #1 alt terminal. If the engine stops when you turn off the IGN switch it should be OK.
