Yes like Walt said. Find the firing order split it in half and put one half under the other half. Like such.
Example Firing order; 1,3,4,2
Spit in half and over/under; 1,3 4,2
#1 & 4 are running mates. They will be at TDC at the same time. One will be on compression and the other will be on exhaust stroke.
Now turn the engine slowly and watch one of the cylinders to see when the exhaust valve closes completely. When it closes its running mate will be on TDC of Compression and can have the valves adjusted. Cross off the cylinder you adjusted and go to the next one until you go thru all of them. Two turns of the crankshaft you will have all the valves adjusted. It gets easier the more you do it.
