Went thru my roto tiller with old 1981 model 5 hp B&S carb and tank cleaning etc, new diaphram, spark plug, had spark and still no run. Did about everything but the armature. Broke down and took it too the shop, he pulled counterweight to check the key and then decided the old armature and points should be replaced with new elec ign which would have been my next step. So now I'll end up spending double to have him order the part plus labor. Oh well.
Asked him about the ryobi 31cc trimmer I just went thru the carb, fuel lines, etc. and still doesn't want to run longer than a couple seconds. He said about 3 out of 10 of those carbs never clean up cause they have so many passages. He said to replace the carb. So now I probably end up paying double for him to order that too. Oh well.
