Last I checked, Dawn trash whippers were about $280 a row new. I found some at Sean Coogley's place next to Colfax Tractor Salvage (Colfax Iowa) for less. Maybe $150 a row, I also bought Kinze bean meters for $60 a row (run about $110 new) but had to put in brushes for another $15 a row or so. Kinze bean meters beat the JD bean cups a hundred miles on even and economical bean planting. Kinze bean meters count, bean cups spill.
The 4 row planter that I have planted 400 acres a year in its early life. Some day I'll sell it with rebuilt finger units, trash whippers, maybe liquid fertilizer openers and Kinze units. Its 30", it was 38 in its early life but I changed that.
A good 6 row will sell for $4k and up, and a poor 6 row will need a lot of work with tail pieces and gauge wheel arms to make it plant good. To say nothing about rebuilding or replacing finger units.
