Karl, the best method is to have a professional painter paint it. But that is expensive & not as much fun & you won't learn much. If you are going to do it yourself then get the best air powered spray gun your budget will allow, a cheap gun will be hard to paint good with, especially if you are new to painting. Use the best primer & paint you budget will allow. & Make sure you have a good water filter in your air line to keep the air clean & dry also. You might want to visit the different boards on this site & run a search on "PAINT" you will get a lot of threads on tractor painting.
