While I like alcohol blended gas - it doesn't store well. Most likely that's what he had in his tank when he parked his 4 wheeler last fall. Untreated gasohol jells up like that in a winter's time but usually stabil will prevent it. But then I always use about 3-4 times as much as what the bottle says.
I don't know how well Seafoam works at preserving gas but it does a great job cleaning out partially gummed up carbs in small engines(again I use about 3X what the can says).
