Ok- lets see if I follow you. 5-6 passes on the east end and the west end of the field. make a run east-west down the middle, bisecting the field turn right 180 and run west-east along the south edge of the field at the end of this run, turn right 180, and make a run east-west, along the north edge of the first run repeat this racetrack shape, shifting it north each time Is this what you are describing? If not, it sounds like it would work...
