New Idea 323 picker

I just got my 323 corn picker home, and yes it is in pretine original condition. Sez it's been through 40 acres and that's all. It's like it's out of a time capsule! But anyways, I hooked it up to my John Deere 60 and fired it up. It's makes regular corn picker noises. But the slip clutch on the wagon elevator was slipping. I opened the cleanout door and out came rat nests, dust, and straw. But none of this stuff would have kept the elevator from going. I could hear it slipping. The elevator chain was shaking, but not moving. I cleaned out everything from the elevator. When I pulled the clutch rope, it disengaged fine, and the slip clutch stopped. Should I go ahead and adjust the clutch, or is there another way to check for rocks, ect?
