I have mounted a few tube type tires without tubes. Had to use bead seal to stop bead leaks. Works good for a few years then the sidewall will get weather checked and start to leak. Tubeless tires have thicker and softer rubber on the inside to seal bead and to keep them from leaking after they get some age on them.
