What happened to the Coninental engine plant? The Army used a lot their engines in their vehicles back in the 1950's. They made a lot of gas engines for the M47 and M48 tanks. They were 1790 cid aircooled engines. When the M60 came along they used their 1790 diesel. The M88 Recovery Vehicle used their engines too. They're made not far from me in York PA. They used their multi-fuel engines in a lot trucks too. We ran drawbar and cooling tests on all these vehicles. Here's the Heavy Field Dynanmometer we used.
