international 2500

well this is not an antique tractor question but I could realy use some help. My neighbor has a mid 70's international 2500 in good shape .It use to have a small backhoe witch was removed.I would like to use it as a brush as a general farm tractor BUT it has no PTO shaft.My question is can a pto shaft be installed OR was this tractor equiped for a backhoe only ....ANY HELP would be a real help
