Grits are ground up corn but you have to make Hominy from the corn, then grind the hominy to get "Hominy Grits". with Mush you just grind corn the taste is quiet different. A lot of farm people served Mush for Brekfast in these Hills. Being from Western West Virginia you would think I would have been raised on Grits but neaver ate them untill I was stationed in Austin Texas. learned to love them I guess I am a Southern Rebel at Heart!!. I'll neaver forget a little Texas gal I use to date when told her I wasn't from Texas she asked "what are you a Yankee". if you wasn't from Texas you were a Yankee to her. I didn't have the hart to tell her that all my G-Great Grand Fathers Fought in the Civil War for the South.
