Interesting point about not waving them around. I've been known to turn around in the seat and look at them so that they know that I'm aware fot hem being there, and give them an index finger as in "wait just a sec" or the full hand as in "DON'T move now!"
What I've found that I can't give them is the old arm turn and stop signals. Strikes me as odd, because they still teach it in driver's ed and it's still on the state license exam, but 9 out of 10 will mistake my left arm stuck out to signal a left turn as their signal to come around, just what I don't need.
