The rest of the folks have given you some great information. I thought giving you a specific example might be of further help. I live in snow country and have plowed 16" of snow at -25 with my Oliver 1650 gas tractor. It starts right up, no fuss. It has a loader and rear box blade. It also has power steering which makes it so easy to drive that my wife who has arthritis plows with it too. It also has a rotary cutter which makes short work of field mowing, even saplings. It's pulled a 3/16 plow through hardpan clay like it was sand. It's more tractor than I need and may be more than you need but the rule is that you can do small chores with a large tractor but you can't do large chores with a small tractor.

Whatever tractor you end up I hope you enjoy it. And please be careful, don't do anything with it you are not comfortable with. If you have an old-timer for a neighbor, he can teach you more about using it correctly in a few hours than you would learn on your own in years.
