Horse manure is about the "weakest" of the various kinds, as far as fertilizer value goes. Composting pretty much gets rid of what little fertilizer value it had. I'd just use it fresh, if possible. Word to the wise- If the horses have been eating over-ripe grass hay, you won't believe how many weed seeds you'll get in your garden. All our horse manure goes on the fields- and I get a pickup load of chicken for the garden. It smells so bad the plants grow fast just to get away from it.
