I will be the odd man here i guess..... If you are going to keep the truck and continue to pull with it then I would do it by all means. The kind of loads you described are a bit much for the gearing and you are going to burn out your clutch if you keep it up. Your speedometer will be off when you change gears. if you want to know how much then use a gps unit to find out how much. There are speedometer patches available for this.
