If you would take a little time and do a little research, and not just follow the talking heads you might actually learn what really happened to Somalia. Years ago, the US embarked on a program of government destabilization, because the government of Somalia did not kowtow to the US. The end result of the meddling of the US is that now there is no effective central government and the warlords and clans rule. Because of this, now piracy flourishes. My reference to the US being the world's policeman refers to the US engaging in wars of aggression in Iraq and Afganistan.
