niece did and bought some cows,paid back her loan and the cows help with her college,she did good with it,but she has more buisness sense about things than most young folks nowdays.(no offense intended)and was raised around cattle and knew what all was involved.I think there are some good programs out there,that can help young folks get a start.just make sure you look it over carefully and commit to staying with it.check out all the angles,we had the land and feed extra to help her get by so that helped.I think its a good deal,or at least was for her.If you had to rent the ground,and buy feed/hay you would have to watch your books a whole lot closer to make it work.Still its a start,if you hang with it and pay attention to what your doing and dont get sidetracked i'd say try it.
