A tire salesman told me that all tires are good but many sit at a giant warehouse waiting to be shipped out. sometimes they can sit there a year maybe longer.
If you get a fresh tire that hasn't been sitting around that long they will last a lot longer than those that have been in storage. I was told years and years ago if you want to store tires store them in your basement where it is cool.
