I can't find my electrical book, but if i remember right, a cable made up of many fine wires has less resistence than a cable made up of heavier wire ( given that the total cross section of both cables is the same ). Somethin' about the current flow is mostly near the surface of the copper, more surface = less resistance. Braided strap is usually fairly fine strands and I 'spect the braid construction would hold up better than a twisted cable w/o a protective insulation. A sugestion I got from these pages was to use one-ought welder cable for 6 volt leads. A LOT cheaper than store bought cables and worked for me.
