Will your C go slow enough in 1st with the engine revved to be of any use? Most tractors that lack a dual range won't work with a rotary tiller.
As I recall, a C goes 2 1/2 MPH in 1st gear with the engine running fast enough to make useful power. That's way too fast to run a tiller unless you're tilling in some awful soft soil. You need to slow down to around 1 MPH.
I know my Case VAC and Ford 641 are both useless with rear tillers - or rear snowblowers (same problem). They are both geared the same as a Farmal C in 1st.
MY IH B275 has a dual range trans, and in low range-1st it's just right at 1.5 MPH.
