Mel, thanks for the info about the website. They mentioned something about the lift pump updates and the advance sleeve failing.
When the new sender/tank pump was ordered an update came with it including some wiring with a new relay. They had to remove the starter to do the update so I assume it had something to do with the lift pump, gleaning from what I read on the website. The pump shop my mechanic talked to is very reputable and has been around a long time. I've had this shop do pump work for me before. Dodge dealers send new pumps to this shop to have improvements done to them so maybe it's worth the money? I sure hope so. Jim
