3 point hitch problem

I have a older Massey 165 with a front end loader on it. I have a valve that is located right on the casing/housing between the gear shift and seat. The loader works good and the 3point hitch will lift a bush hog but I am loosing the ability to adjusted the height. It starts vibrating badly. Around the valve housing has developed a leak and I have to play with the position of the push rod valve control to get the hitch to do anything. Does anyone know about these valves and what might be happening? Maybe it's something else. I am not sure.Thanks for the help
