Deere 40s are neat little tractors. . . useful if they have a three point hitch. No live pto (direct drive off the transmission) so youd have to slip one of the override shafts on to keep your brushhog from pushing you where you dont want to go. Nice and low to the ground for stability. No water pump on the motor and they can run a little hot. Fair value? Anywhere from $500-3000 depending on tires, sheetmetal, how motor runs, how trans drives, etc etc etc.

In July of 1998 I was talking to fellow Allis Chalmers collector Mike Schilling about the annual "Gathering of The Orange" AC show coming up in August of 1999.
