Been there, done that. When I was getting out of the business, I had cattle in 8 different places; carried some to sale barn, sold one herd to neighbor, passed the word around that they were all for sale. Fellow who lived about 3 counties over came and looked at one bunch......about 150 head. He asked how much and I told him; said he'd take 'em if I would deliver 'em. A local order buyer had just gone belly-up and left a lot of bad checks around; thankfully, I wasn't holding any of 'em, but it was in the back of my mind. The fellow buying mine was somewhat known to me by reputation; ran a little auction company, etc, but I had never dealt with him. I had a 32 ft gooseneck; took me 7 loads over 2 days; when I unloaded the last of 'em, he handed me a check for a little over $50,000. Reading back over it, it sounds kinda ignorant on my part, but I've never been 'stuck', except by employees; don't think I've ever had a one that didn't leave owing me money.
