Around here you can find sea containers from many sources and have a lot listed on places like craigslist but I do live within 50 miles of a major port (New Orleans). For a water/wind tight 20' the price runs from $1500 to $2000 and a 40' would run from $2000 to $2500. This is just for the container and delivery; setup; and tax would be extra.
If you live near the coast (Houston) $3150 may be a tad high but in the middle of the state that price sounds about right.
