Depends where you live and the type of work you want to do. In my area of western manitoba there are actually lots of jobs available & we have a labour shortage. Many of the jobs are for construction workers, mechanics, electricians, waitresses, cooks, doctors, nurses, etc. When the oil boom was going in Alberta a lot of people from this area packed up and went there. There is work available throughout western Canada (Manitoba,Saskatchewan,Alberta,British Columbia). 80% of the job losses have been in Ontario & Quebec where the auto industry & their spin-off industries are located. Of course that is also where the largest population centers are so that is why the media is always crying about how bad things are in Canada(we westerners don't count! as far as they are concerned!) The so-called recession hasn't hit here yet(if it ever does!),people still buying cars, trucks & houses & paying big money for them. Farm land in my area going for up to $3000/acre. Company where I work is still trying to run short-handed. Problem is that unlike in the past, nobody wants to relocate to where the jobs are..they want gov't assistance instead.
