You need to talk to the farmers in your township/county. You can't get good advice from farmers across the US for your local situation. At a minimum you need a 70 hp tractor, an 8 row no til planter, a 30ft/350 gal sprayer, a 20ft heavy disc, a combine, at least one grain cart or truck. About $40,000 shopping at farm auctions for some old equipment that you are going to spenfd alot of hours repairing. But the IRS tax benefits, and local tax breaks for startup farmers are good. Go for it.
