The diesel will have filters (usually near the pump) that provide all the filtering needed. Putting a filter on that is designed for a much thinner liquid and likely to be under Fuel pump pressure, will not allow enough flow. If it is a custom install of the engine, and the stock filter system is not there, you will need a system comparable to the stock with diesel filters and bleeders in them. Without the correct setup, it will plug injectors, ruin pumps and fail. I hope this helps. JimN
