I had three bachelor uncles who lived and farmed together. They were such John Deere freaks, they wouldn't even buy anything aftermarket. If John Deere didn't make it, they didn't need it.
For that reason, my father refused to own a piece of John Deere equipment. I was somewhere in between. When I farmed, I had a JD combine and a few other pieces of green machinery. I still have a John Deere #5 sickle bar mower. (Who doesn't?)
Worst tractor was when I was a kid, we had an Oliver 70. It wasn't a bad tractor, if you could luck out and get it started.
