Jay, Now I know there has to be a "right" way to do it but I was using my Son's last year and it was doing the same thing, I got so Da-ned frustated I hooked a spring to it with just enuf pressure to keep it up for the return. I did a pretty good job of installing the spring and altho I intended to take a closer look at it for a better fix, I just never got "a round tuit". He's split a lot of wood with it himself since then.
